Maria Costello MBE, one of the most respected names in British road racing and classic motorcycling, has joined Iconic Auctioneers as a motorcycle consultant, strengthening the company’s growing specialist motorcycle team.
With more than 30 years of competition experience, Maria Costello brings exceptional insight into classic and significant motorcycles, as well as a deep understanding of the global motorcycling community. Widely recognised as one of Britain’s most successful female road racers, her achievements include a Guinness World Record at the Isle of Man TT, becoming the first woman to stand on a solo podium at the Manx Grand Prix, and remaining the only woman to podium in the Classic TT Senior race. She is also the only female rider to have competed in both solo and sidecar classes at the Isle of Man TT.

Alongside her racing career, Costello has extensive hands-on experience with classic motorcycles, having raced and worked closely with historically important machines for leading teams and private collectors. In her new role at Iconic Auctioneers, she will support motorcycle consignments, assist with valuations and presentation, and help connect standout machines with the right collectors and custodians.
In 2009, Maria was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to motorcycling and has also served as the first female President of the TT Riders Association Charity.
Her appointment comes as Iconic Auctioneers continues to expand its motorcycle auction programme, with sales taking place at major shows and venues across the UK, reinforcing its position as a trusted route to market for classic and collectible motorcycles.
