A kick-start to the new classic motorcycling year, the Carole Nash Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic takes place on January 6-7 at Newark Showground. It offers a welcome respite from the hectic holiday season and a chance to get lost exploring the hundreds of stunning classic machines on display.
With a good mix of traders, dealers and autojumble plots, it’s the perfect place to grab a box of parts and spares, as well as finding that inspiration needed to finish your restoration for a summer of riding… or perhaps pick up a new project.
On the subject of inspiration, few motorcycle racers can boast a CV that comes close to that of Michael Rutter, guest of honour at the show.
In a career which goes back to the early 1990s, when a teenage Rutter took to the track following in his famous father Tony’s tyre marks, Michael has amassed an amazing 14 North West 200 wins, an unequalled eight Macau victories and five Isle of Man TT wins. And he is still on winning form in the BSB Superstock class.
Due to his laid-back, modest approach to the sport Michael has always been a fans’ favourite and he is guaranteed to share some great stories – not just about his own career but also what it was like growing up with a legendary racer for a father – during his stage appearances with Steve Plater over the weekend of January 6-7.
And it’s not just classic motorcycles that will be celebrated at the Winter Classic, with the popular Scooter World hall making a welcome return along with local scooter clubs, private entries and traders.
The 2018 show is set to bring something a little bit different. Not only have we increased the show by another two halls, we’re also starting up a Mods & Rockers fancy dress theme, with prizes up for grabs for the best dressed!
