East Midlands Venue Leading The Charge For Bike Shows

NEWARK SHOWGROUND is set to host 11 motorcycle related events in 2015 making it one of the country’s leading venues for two-wheeled exhibitions.

The series gets under way early in the New Year with the Carole Nash Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic over the weekend of January 3-4, followed by 10 large one day autojumbles taking place on selected Sundays which cover nearly all modes of road transport.

Nick Mowbray, exhibition manager for the events, said: “With the showground lying close to the border between Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, many enthusiasts will visit from across the region with the two counties having an affinity for all things two wheeled.

“Whether it’s the close proximity of several racetracks, the history of motorcycle manufacturing in the area or the ideal riding roads, there is an abundance of motorcyclists and it’s demonstrated by how many of them make the regular trip to Newark Showground to get their fix of all things two-wheeled.”

The popularity that bikes enjoy might also be linked to the number of racing stars that hail from the area, one of whom – John Reynolds – is the special guest of honour for Newark’s January show.

Born in Nottinghamshire, Reynolds is a three times British Superbike Champion – winning the title in 1992, 2001 and 2004 – and he also found success in global events with World Superbike podiums at Brands Hatch and Assen.

As well as hearing Reynolds share stories from his career, visitors can stock up on parts pieces and tools from a variety of trade and jumble stands and examine a host of stunning machines exhibited by clubs and private entrants.

In addition to its motorcycle, events Newark Showground also hosts a variety of motoring, transport and engineering events throughout the year and details can be found on the venue’s website – www.newarkshowground.com
